5-11-12 Today was going to be a great day I felt. I had some objects in mind like the black eye galaxy. I started by putting in a high power eye piece to look at Venus and center my finder scope. Then I started seeing what I could find in Virgo. I spent all night in Virgo. I saw 3 ngc galaxies and 2 messier galaxies. I found messier 64, the black eye and Messier 80, which has no common name. I also learned how to star hop much better plus I can now see just a little more of Virgo with my eyes now that I can see the lines of the constellation better. They both looked awesome even though my low power eyepiece. I left there quite happy knowing that even though there were so many galaxy’s I was able to know by my star chart which ones I was looking at. Also Chris did show me Scorpios over the top of Ligget and he showed me the lines of Leo much better.
6-5-12 TRANSIT OF VENUS, Only time in my life to see it. It was AWESOME. I immediately took some photos with my phone and they turned out great. The weather was quite cloudy we had to wait for the clouds to move. I looked through the pst solar telescope and the Meade 10 inch Schmidt with a solar top on it. The dot looked surprisingly cool. At first I asked myself why it wasn’t a crescent and then I realized I was stupid for asking myself that because I knew exactly why it was not a crescent. I also tried to get pictures through the pst but it didn’t go well. But I was able to get a lower power eyepiece and get the entire sun in the picture. I was overwhelmed with excitement and sadness when I realized I was never going to see this again. But overall it was great and I never would have seen it without meeting Mrs.Herrold.
Every time i do something else i will write update and the date it happened on it. PLEASE WRITE FEEDBACK!!!
